MUNICIPALITY OF OPOVO – ADAPTED AND EQUIPPED 2 WORKING ROOMS IN PRESCHOOL “BAMBI”

As a part of the project of “Inclusive preschool education and care”, which is realized by the Ministry of education, science, and technological development in cooperation with Foundation Novak Djokovic from the loan of World Bank, 2 more working rooms in the territory of the Opovo municipality were adapted and equipped.

The need to adapt two working rooms arose as a result of a number of positive factors in this place: the increase in the number of residents, that is, young married couples, multinationality, and the growing need for preschool education.

As a preschool institution “Bambi” has been making great efforts to include all children for years, the lack of accommodation capacity is a challenge in the work of the institution, and the waiting list is growing year by year.

The local self-government recognized the need for capacity expansion and ceded the old “Kebs” building for use by a preschool institution. The building is located in the central part of the park in Opovo, just 150m from the kindergarten, in the immediate vicinity are also an elementary school, a gallery, a Catholic and Orthodox church, and the Center for social work.

The Novak Đoković Foundation and the Ministry of education, science and technological development through the project “Inclusive preschool education and care” adapted and completely equipped the building.

The works involved the replacement of floors, walls, ceilings, joinery, lighting, as well as the installation of air conditioning. The new, adapted rooms (one mixed and one preschool group) are fully adapted to the needs of children and teachers and follow the new basics of the preschool education program.

In addition to the furniture that was chosen and adapted to each age group, the rooms are equipped with new toys, carpets, lazy bags, easels for painting, books and necessary consumables.

In the new groups on the territory of the municipality of Opovo, 40 new children aged 3 to 7 years were enrolled and the premises were adapted and equipped in accordance with the needs of our youngest residents.
